The Department of Periodontology, Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur, successfully organized a two-day Add-On Course titled “Basics of Oral Implantology” on 13th and 14th March 2026 at Pride Hall from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM. The program was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice for 1st and 2nd-year postgraduate students along with 9 registered general practitioners, with a total of 32 participants.
Day one focused on the surgical dimensions of implant dentistry under the guidance of Dr. Kaustubh Thakare, an eminent Periodontist and ITI Fellow, including detailed lectures on patient selection, bone biology, and surgical protocols, followed by hands-on training in implant placement and sinus lift techniques on specialized models. Day two emphasized prosthetic considerations, featuring comprehensive lectures on prosthetic planning and the All-on-Four concept, along with demonstrations of impression techniques such as open tray, closed tray, and digital impressions to ensure precision in prosthesis fabrication. The course concluded with a valedictory session and certificate distribution, and participants reported enhanced confidence in both surgical and prosthetic aspects of basic implantology, with the interdisciplinary involvement of Prosthodontics faculty further enriching the overall learning experience.
