Comprehensive Dental Camp at Primary Health Centre, Pombhurna
A Comprehensive Dental Check-up and Treatment Camp was organized on 30 July 2026
at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Pombhurna, as part of the rural community outreach activities
of the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College & Research
Centre, Nagpur. The camp was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Sudhir Rawlani and his
team, in coordination with the medical and paramedical staff of PHC Pombhurna. The
programme aimed to improve access to essential oral healthcare services among the rural
population through screening, early diagnosis, treatment, oral health education and referral
services.
A total of 96 patients were screened for various dental diseases and oral health conditions. Following clinical examination, 20 patients received immediate dental treatment, including scaling, dental fillings and extractions, as clinically indicated. Beneficiaries were also provided with individualized oral health education regarding proper tooth-brushing techniques, maintenance of oral hygiene, prevention of dental caries and periodontal diseases, healthy dietary practices and the importance of regular dental check-ups.Patients requiring advanced or specialized care were appropriately advised for further treatment and referral. Thus, the camp followed an integrated “Screen – Diagnose – Treat – Educate – Refer” approach, ensuring that the outreach activity provided both immediate clinical benefits and long-term preventive awareness.
The programme strengthened the linkage between primary healthcare and specialized dental services and helped bring essential oral healthcare closer to the rural community. The successful conduct of the camp reflects the institution’s continued commitment to accessible, equitable and community-oriented oral healthcare.
