The Board of Research Studies (BORS) Committee of Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre successfully organized an informative webinar for the interns of the institute with the objective of strengthening their understanding of research methodology and promoting a scientific approach towards research.
The webinar was conducted by the esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Anjali Borle, an eminent academician and researcher, who delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Identification of Research Gap and How to Select a Research Topic.” The session focused on the importance of identifying gaps in existing literature, understanding current research trends, and selecting a relevant, feasible, and impactful research topic.
Dr. Borle explained the systematic process of conducting a comprehensive literature review, critically analyzing published studies, and identifying unanswered questions that could serve as potential research opportunities. She also highlighted the essential characteristics of a good research topic, emphasizing originality, clinical relevance, ethical considerations, feasibility, and practical applicability. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, she guided the interns on developing meaningful research questions and designing research projects that contribute to evidence-based dentistry.
The webinar witnessed enthusiastic participation from the interns, who actively interacted with the speaker during the question-and-answer session. The session helped clarify several practical aspects of research planning and inspired the participants to develop a research-oriented mindset for their future academic and professional careers.
